BERLIN (AFP) – Bayern Munich have urged their supporters to treat any visiting opponents and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer with respect ahead of Saturday's highly-charged league clash against Schalke 04.Neuer, 25, is widely reported to be set to sign for the Bavarian giants next season and has already told Champions League semi-finalists Schalke he will not extend his contract, which ends in 2012.
Bayern fans protested against the potential signings with placards reading "No Neuer!" seen when the sides last met in the German Cup at Munich's Allianz Arena at the start of March.
Club bosses have asked for no repetition from their diehard fans after Neuer was the victim of various chants by home fans when Schalke poached a 1-0 cup win last month.
"It is our way of hopsitality that this club welcomes all opponents with warmth and respect," said the club in a statement.
"Being competitive on the field is something quite normal, but the spirit of our club demands we show respect and sporting fairness."
The club has also said nets will be put up behind each goal to protect the players in the event of any objects being thrown by supporters.
