Is Apple Planning a New iOS Device?

There seems to be fresh Apple rumors every day. But the latest buzz doesn't make predictions about the iPad 3 or the iPhone 5. Rather, a developer has uncovered a placeholder in the App Store that suggests the company might release another iOS device.
Panic developer Cabel Sasser noticed the name "ix.Mac.MarketingName" alongside the names of such familiar products as the iPod touch, iPad, or iPhone under the hardware requirements for certain new apps in the App Store, MacRumors says. Whether it's actually a new product or just a bug is unclear. However, on Wednesday evening, it was listed on the description for Prompt, Panic's new SSH client for iOS, as well as many other universal apps.

MacRumors notes that while it's most likely a glitch, it hasn't stopped people from speculating about a phantom Apple gadget.
Meanwhile, there is also chatter that Apple is planning to add another product to its line, an HDTV that could launch as early as the end of 2011.
"Our research suggests this Smart TV would go well beyond the miniature $99 second-generation Apple TV that the company released last fall and provide a full-blown TV product for consumers," Ticonderoga Securities analyst Brian White said in a note to investors.
While the reports of a television are still fresh, the most pervasive recent Apple rumor is that the iPhone 5 has been delayed until the end of the year. In fact, some sources are reporting that production hasn't even started on the next-generation smartphone.
However, as with all Apple rumors, these reports should be taken with a grain of salt. Apple rarely, if even, comments on rumors. Not surprisingly, reps from the company did not respond to requests for comments on any of these reports.
